In June, Spotify introduced a free ad-supported streaming radio feature to its iOS application and, now, it’s finally available for Android devices, too. Beginning today, Android users can download the Spotify application from Google Play and use it to create radio stations based on any playlist, album or artist. Any song can be immediately saved to a Spotify playlist and, just like with Pandora, users can choose to thumb up or down a song to tweak the station to their tastes.
I highly recommend coughing up the $9.99 monthly fee for Spotify Premium because it also introduces offline caching and a robust music listening experience. As a New Yorker, I use the application daily on the subway when I’m unable to stream using a 3G or 4G network.
