AT&T Reportedly Set to Drop HTC One X to Just $99 (Update: Confirmed)

AT&T is reportedly set to drop the price of HTC’s latest flagship Android smartphone, the HTC One X, to just $99 with a new two-year contract. The One X first launched in May at a $199.99 price point and offers top-of-the-line features including a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 4G LTE support, a stunning 4.7-inch display with a 1280 x 720 resolution and 16GB of storage.

The new pricing will go into effect on July 29th, according to an image posted by a user on the¬†xda-developers¬†forums. “This is the new price point, no special or deal,” user surflamj explained. The new Garnet Red Samsung Galaxy S III is set to go on sale the same day and the post suggests that AT&T’s Galaxy S III, in general, is on “extreme backorder.”

We prefer Samsung’s Galaxy S III for its slightly larger display, removable battery and expandable storage, among other things, but the alleged new price point for the One X certainly makes it a steal.

Update: HTC has confirmed the deal but it will exist for a limited time only as part of a back to school sale.
