Mistwalker’s Party Wave Debuts on iOS

So some small and goofy little surfing game has hit the iOS, and why should you care? Beyond being a ridiculously slow news day, the game also happens to be the latest from none other than Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of a small series called Final Fantasy. You might have heard of it…maybe.

Yup, Mistwalker is taking a break from JRPGs and focusing on a few pet projects here and there for the mobile gaming market. Sakaguchi is a self admitted “surfing aficionado,” so his first game on the platform is a natural fit. The famed developer also has two more projects in the works.

What do yo think? A Grecian fall from grace? The creator of the world’s most prolific RPG series reduced to simple iOS games. Or, is it just that one of the most important developers in gaming history has found a new calling in life that he wants to explore a bit more? Could this be his Wii Music?

Buy the game, and you decide. It’s available for a measly $1.99 on the App Store. Do your part to keep this legendary man in the business, and who knows? He might jump back into RPGs again one day.

Be sure to grab  The Last Story when it’s release for the Nintendo Wii on August 14th, as well. Sakaguchi’s most recent RPG outing is shaping up to be something special.
