Yakuza 1 and 2 HD Gets Japanese Trailer (video)

Yakuza and Yakuza 2, possibly one of Sega’s last largely successful and loved franchises, are getting HD remakes for the PlayStation Network. The Japanese trailer you see above is a great way to catch both titles in motion.

I actually have something to admit to the readers at large. Despite studying Japanese, liking fiction about organized crime, visiting Japan and being a diehard gamer, my first foray in the Yakuza franchise started with Yakuza 4. Now, I loved that game, but I felt a little lost in the grand scope of the series. Seeing 1 and 2 getting an HD upgrade overseas means I might have a shot at enjoying the originals with better visuals; though, I’d like to see more effort spent on sharpening them up.

The bad news? These remakes have not been confirmed for release anywhere outside of Japan. There was a time when Yakuza 4 was thought to never see an international release, either. Let’s hope Sega thinks on it and elects to give the rest of the world a shot at enjoying the first two parts of this franchise once more.
