The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the new Nexus 7 are the only devices that have been guaranteed an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade up to this point. But according to Vodafone Australia, the Nexus S will be next on the list.
In a post entitled “Software Update Weekly Wrap Up — 18 July, 2012” on the Vodafone Australia blog, the carrier provides a list of smartphones alongside their upcoming software updates. The only device on the list that is expected to receive Jelly Bean — aside from the Galaxy Nexus, of course — is the Nexus S.
So when will it arrive? Well, according to Vodafone, it will drop tomorrow, July 19:
“Approved by Vodafone, roll out by Google scheduled for 1:00pm AEST, 19th July 2012. Keep an eye on our blog for further information.”
That’s 11 p.m. ET, according to my calculations, which, as noted by Engadget, is the same time Android updates are scheduled for other devices, like the original Galaxy S, which is getting a “Value Pack” upgrade.
Even if Vodafone’s information is spot-on, it doesn’t necessarily mean the update will rollout to all Nexus S handsets the world over at the same time. With that said, be on the lookout for it, but don’t be too disappointed if you don’t get it tomorrow night.
And if you do receive it, of course, be sure to let us know.
