HTC HD2 Gets Semi-Functional Jelly Bean Port

Released just shy of three years ago, HTC’s HD2 refuses to die. The HD2 originally shipped with with Windows Mobile 6.5 but, since then, Windows Phone 7.5 and Android 4.0 have been delivered to the smartphone. Not stopping there, some crafty individuals from xda-developers have cooked up a port of Android 4.1 for this oldie but goodie.

The release is still in “pre-alpha” state, but several functions are working, such as mobile data, calls, WiFi, Bluetooth, SMS, video playback and USB mass storage support. While we wouldn’t recommend using this setup as a daily driver, it should definitely be a fun project for those of you who like to tinker with old hardware.
