Apple Introducing iCloud.com Email Addresses in iOS 6

iCloud - 001MobileMe is gone. All hail iCloud. While the service has been around since last year, Apple is reportedly preparing to scorch the iCloud moniker upon its users even further by introducing @icloud.com email addresses.

Found in the most recent iOS 6 Beta 3, new and existing users will from now on be met with icloud.com, instead of me.com, email addresses during the sign-up process.

icloud.com email addresses are now available for iCloud mail users. Users signing up for new Apple IDs, or enabling Mail on their iCloud account for the first time, will automatically receive an iCloud email address instead of a me.com email address. iCloud users with me.com addresses that have been used with iOS 6 Beta 3 will receive an iCloud email address that matches their me.com address.

So new users to iCloud mail can tell their friends to reach them at an icloud.com address. Neat. If you already use iCloud mail — Mac.com or Me.com — it sounds like you’ll have an extra address sitting around.
