In-App Purchase Sales Bypassed by Russian Hacker for Free Digital Goods

If you’re tired of paying for in-app purchases that give you an edge in a game, a Russian hacker is here to help … and probably steal your info as well.

A new way to bypass paying for in-app purchases has appeared as demoed in the video above, and it doesn’t even require you to jailbreak your iOS device.  All you need to do is install two security certificates and add a custom DNS entry to use it, and you’re on your way to all the free in-app goodies you could want.  The problem is that no matter how you slice it, you are doing something illegal, and secondly, some personal info is being transferred to the hacker’s server.  Certainly he won’t do anything with that information … right?

Apparently his first host has kicked him off, and the site is currently down at the second location, so no word if he has been booted again, is jut too popular or some larger action is happening against him.

We can’t stress enough what a bad idea it is to use this method, and we highly recommend you do not attempt it.  If not out of concern about the developers who rely on in-app purchases to make a living, then at least for your personal data.
