Batman’s Next Arkham Adventure Set in the Silver Age of Comics?

Rocksteady and Warner Bros. have delivered unto gamers two of the best super hero games ever made over the last few years; Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City have been both commercial and critical slam dunks. That success dictates that the companies will push forward and create more entries in the franchise.

But, what’s next?

Variety is reporting that they’ve learned where Warner and Rocksteady will place the Dark Knight. Perhaps not “where,” but “when.”

The Caped Crusader’s next foray will supposedly happen during the Silver Age of comics (the 1950s). Batman will tangle with the Joker for the first time in this prequel, and players will watch more of the DC Universe get involved as the formation of the Justice League occurs.

That means more heroes, a bigger expanse of Gotham and, fingers crossed, epic Silver Age costumes for the Bats and his cohorts.

Variety points out that while Kevin Conroy will likely return to voice Batman, Mark Hamill has already stated that he’s done with Joker…not counting the recent DC Universe Online release.

Given the way events unfolded in Batman: Arkham City, this would give Rocksteady an avenue to avoid altering their pitch-perfect ending any further while still being able to explore more of Batman’s lore.

Color this a rumor until we hear otherwise from either Rocksteady or WB. Once that happens, we’ll let you know.
