Nexus Q Gets Hacked, Runs Android Launcher, Apps and More

Google Nexus Q FrontGoogle’s Nexus Q is a hypnotizing piece of hardware that’s quite limited in its current form. Which is to say, for what it does, there are other, less expensive alternatives out there. However, thanks to the always reliable developers in the XDA forums, the value of the Nexus Q has just shot up considerably.

According to user Kornyone, the device can be unlocked to install CyanogenMod’s Trebuchet launcher. Even better, it can run apps such as, say, Netflix, which apparently works well with 1080p streaming. In addition, stuff like Angry Birds and Google+ work perfectly fine, along with a slew of other popular apps.

When the Q was announced, Google encouraged folks to tamper and toy away with the media streaming orb. Kornyone’s efforts, it would seem, are just the tip of the iceberg.
