Staples Canada Lists Nexus 7 as Available on July 23rd

Google did not provide an exact release date when it unveiled its new Nexus 7 tablet during its I/O conference. Instead, it only said that the 7-inch slab would arrive sometime in “late July.” However, Staples Canada is now taking pre-orders for the 16GB model of the Android 4.0 Jelly Bean-powered tablet (this sounded like “Jelly Bean Tegra 3” ) for $259. The retailer will reportedly release the Nexus 7 on July 23rd. Now, this could very well be an estimate on the part of Staples, but it can’t be too far off considering Google’s projected “late July” release date. We’re excited to see a major retailer supporting Google’s new tablet, but this could possibly be a region-specific offering, as Staples’ U.S. website currently doesn’t have a listing for the Nexus 7. Hopefully this means other retailers, such as Best Buy, are on board to sell the device, too.
