I had a chance to see an aerodynamics demonstration of the 2013 Ford Fusion at the Ford Go Further event in Dearborn, Michigan. For those of you wondering, yes, they use the same stuff that is pumped into nightclubs. The only differences here were that we were in Ford’s wind tunnel and the visible smoke was emitted from a Ghostbusters style gun. Trains, bikes and even Olympic skiers use this method of aerodynamics testing to figure out drag, lift, side force and more.
According to Ford, the 2013 Ford Fusion is a whole 10% more aerodynamic than the 2012 Fusion and approximately 2.5% more efficient in terms of MPG. Check out the video for a closer look at how aerodynamics are measured.
