Verizon Wireless is reportedly preparing to close its Houston call center and will lay off 943 of its customer service employees there, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The call center is expected to close on August 25th and is the first of three closures Verizon has planned. The company will also close centers in Seattle and Detroit, The Wall Street Journal said. Verizon explained that the final figure of layoffs could vary depending on how many people take on new rolls within the firm, but didn’t provide a solid figure on how many people might be able to hang on to their jobs.
