Google recently published the statistics on the distribution of its various versions of Android and, as we expected, Gingerbread is still installed on the largest number of devices. 64% of all Android devices run that version of the operating system, which is now two iterations older than the newest version. 10.9% of all Android users are running an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device, 2.4% have Honeycomb installed, 17.3% are still running Froyo, 4.7% run Eclair, 0.5% are running Donut and… 0.2% run Cupcake. Google’s figures, which were collected during a 14-day period ended on July 2nd, don’t provide any information on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. That’s likely because it’s only available to developers and select users who have decided to hack a version on their Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S phones. Anyone else hungry after reading this?
