In what can only be described as a poor attempt at tongue-in-cheek humor, EA has released a new trailer for SimCity Social. SimCity Social is the company’s latest stab at the Facebook gaming platform, and we’ve actually produced an article about its intrusive ways.
The trailer itself is meant to serve as an attack on Zynga and CityVille.
Firing at competitors through marketing is nothing new for the folks at EA; they did it recently in their campaign for Battlefield 3. Not only were their execs keen on talking down Call of Duty, the tagline for the Battfield 3 campaign was “Above and beyond the call…”
SimCity Social‘s? “More City, Less Ville.” As far as I’m concerned, there’s a problem with your product when one of its chief selling points is how much it’s not like another product.
Also, it doesn’t help that the trailer above is pretty terrible.
