Google Nexus 7 16GB Will Be Available to Purchase From U.K. Retail Stores in July

Although the 8GB Google Nexus 7 tablet is only available to purchase through the Google Play store for those in the United Kingdom, its maker, Asus, has confirmed that the 16GB variant will be arriving in British retail stores in late July.

Engadget reports:

We’ve just had word from ASUS that the 16GB variant of the Nexus 7 will arrive on UK shelves on July 27th — slightly later than the 8GB model, which will be sold exclusively through Google Play from mid-July.

The 16GB Nexus 7 is £40 (approx. $62) more than its little sibling, but that’s a small price to pay for double the storage. In fact, we’d recommend almost anyone to opt for the 16GB device if they can afford it, because you’ll find your storage quickly gets eaten up as soon as you begin transferring your music, movies, and TV shows to your device. And there’s nothing worse than discovering you need more storage after you’ve taken the thing out of the box.

Nexus 7 will reportedly make its way to larger retailers, including PC World, Comet, Tesco, and eBuyer around June 20, so if you pre-order for home delivery, you may even get it earlier than June 27. It will also be available through the Carphone Warehouse, which will be offering the device at its usual price, or for free if you’re happy to sign up to a tethered contract.
