Google announced on Thursday that, as of today, users will be able to edit and work on Google Docs documents without having a connection to the internet. Any changes that are made offline are automatically saved and cached. Once you’re connected to the internet again and open the document in Drive, the Doc will be synced back up to the cloud and updated to the most recent version in real time. Google showed a quick demo and the sync just took a matter of seconds. Offline presentations and spreadsheets are coming soon, Google said.
