An earlier report suggesting the Droid RAZR MAXX is Verizon’s top-selling phone may not be true. According to Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley, the iPhone 4S still remains the carrier’s most popular handset, despite enduring “gradual share losses.”
Contradictory to competing analyst estimations, Walkley said that, while the RAZR MAXX is gaining ground, it “hasn’t caught the iPhone.” In fact, Apple’s lone device is the best-selling smartphone at not only Verizon, but AT&T and Sprint as well.
With the Galaxy S III now hitting consumer hands, the device stands as the iPhone’s biggest competitor yet. Despite initial delays, Samsung is expected to sell 10 million Galaxy S III units by July. Add that to the fact that iPhone shipments tend to drop off before the next iteration hits, and it won’t be long before the handset is bumped to the number two spot. At least, that’s my analyst prediction for the day.
