Nokia will begin rolling out its latest updates for the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 handsets this week, and they’re not just the same old bug patches that Lumia users have become accustomed to. Instead, these updates bring all sorts of new features, including improvements to the camera, DLNA streaming capabilities, and more.
The most exciting change to the majority of users will be to the camera, which gets a whole host of new features in this update, including smart group shot, action shot, self timer, and a terrific panorama mode. You can then stream those images – along with your music and movies – to your DLNA compatible devices thanks to Nokia’s new Play To feature, which also makes its debut in this update.
Another pretty big change is the ability to turn your handset into a Wi-Fi hotspot and share its 3G data connection with other devices — like your laptop or tablet — while you’re on the go.
Also in this update is the new “flip to silence” feature, which allows you to silence calls by putting your handset down on its face; and “exclusive new applications available in the Windows Phone Marketplace (Camera Extras, Counters, Contact share, and more).”
The update will begin its rollout on July 27, and Nokia says it will continue during June and July. If you’re on of the lucky ones, then, you’ll be able to enjoy these new features this week.
