AT&T confirmed this morning that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S II is now officially available for download. AT&T said last week that the update could be applied through Samsung’s Kies software, but quickly pulled it less than 24 hours later. “ICS takes the customer experience many steps forward by making navigation more intuitive with faster user interface and browsing,” AT&T product marketing manager Ryan Lee said. “The many new features include an enhanced Recent Apps shortcut to ease multitasking, new lock/unlock features including Face Unlock, improved home screen folders, a new notifications bar and an app to help you track your data usage.” AT&T said additional ICS updates are planned to roll out this summer, but the carrier didn’t provide details on specific devices.
AT&T provided the following steps to update your Galaxy S II:
1. Visit the Samsung website from a personal computer.
2. Download and Install the Samsung Kies Upgrade Program on your PC.
3. Connect your device to your PC and follow the instructions on Samsung Kies to get the update.
