With the HP Pre now discontinued, users are now finding ways to make use of its clever Touchstone charger. Rather than throwing it in a drawer with the Pre itself, they’re modifying their existing devices to take advantage of its conductive charging abilities. The latest mod comes to the Galaxy S III.
Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy S III will get wireless charging, but when exactly that will happen is a mystery to all of us. However, once user has taken the matter into his own hands, and he explains exactly how it works in the video above.
The clip runs for just under three minutes and it outlines the entire process in full. First the user connects the Pre’s original Touchstone panel to the Galaxy S III as a proof of concept. After confirming that it works, he the proceeds to transfer all of the components from the Touchstone panel into the Galaxy S III.
It’s a nifty trick that appears to work well, however, we certainly wouldn’t advise you to try this yourself. You could easily to damage to your precious handset while voiding its warranty in the process, and so any problems you cause won’t be fixed by Samsung. It’s best to just wait for Samsung’s official solution instead.
