Google Brings Custom Image Backgrounds to Gmail

Gmail custom backgroundsOver the next couple of days, Google will introduce a feature that will allow Gmail users to set custom backgrounds. If the company’s recent Gmail overhaul isn’t to your liking, you’ll now be able to put little Steve-O behind all those messages from Uncle Ray. Light and dark will be used as the basic theme presets and images can be uploaded directly, set through your Google+ gallery or through an image url. There’s also a Featured Photos section where users can browse galleries if you don’t have a particular image in mind. Google cut back customization options quite a bit following Gmail’s late 2011 redesign, and while setting a background doesn’t quite allow the most flexibility, it’s definitely a nice option to have.
