If you’re looking to take to the world of dedicated multiplayer ranked gaming in the upcoming entry in the long running Call of Duty franchise, you’ll be able to do so in Black Ops 2.

The topic of dedicated servers for the PC side of the Call of Duty community has been a tumultuous one for years now. When Activision launched Modern Warfare 2, it was announced that Infinity Ward would not support dedicated servers. Gamers were frustrated. Treyarch brought them back in full form for the original Black Ops. Infinity Ward took the helm again with Modern Warfare 3 and decided to only offer unranked dedicated servers. That meant multiplayer gaming on dedicated servers would earn players no experience or unlocks.
Ranked dedicated servers are back for Call of Duty fans. That comes at the hands of Treyarch.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is set to launch for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms on November 23rd of this year. You can read our impressions from the E3 preview of the game here.
