“Think Different” indeed: Apparently Steve Jobs took LSD roughly 15 times in his life, as revealed in a 1988 security clearance application the Apple co-founder filled out for the Department of Defense. “It was a positive life changing experience for me, and I am glad I went through that experience,” he said of his acid trips, which took place between 1972-74.
According to Walter Isaacson’s biography of Jobs, intelligence agencies required Jobs’ security clearance because Pixar’s image computer was used to configure data from reconnaissance flights and satellites.
Said Jobs, “I would ingest the LSD on a sugar cube or in a hard form of gelatin. I would usually take the LSD when I was by myself,” and it was a “life-changing experience.” He also admitted to ingesting pot or hash — via smoke or brownies — once or twice weekly between 1973 and 1977. “The best way I would describe the effect of the marijuana and the hashish is that it would make me relaxed and creative,” he said.
