Apple has reportedly removed the podcast button in the latest version of iTunes on iOS 6, according to The Verge forums. iOS 6 is currently only available to developers, so it’s not that big of a deal to consumers just yet. The button is not gone forever, however. AllThingsD said Apple will launch a new dedicated podcast app for iOS-powered devices that will give podcasts their own new home.

This option is similar to Google’s “Listen” application, which allows users to subscribe to, and save, podcasts outside of its Google Play store. The desktop version of Apple’s iTunes application will still offer access to podcasts, however. These changes should be welcome by most iOS users, as it will remove a bit of clutter from the iTunes application and provide quick and easy access to podcasts. I, for one, prefer having a separate podcast application on Android, for example.
