They say quality over quantity. Apple has found that rare balance between both. The company announced at its WWDC keynote on Monday that there are 650,000 apps — 225,000 specifically for the iPad — currently residing in the iOS App Store. (What percentage of that is Angry Birds?) Since launching in 2008, Apple’s App Store has redefined — let’s also not forget work of creative third party developers — how consumers interact and experience smartphones. It’s what has made apps like Instagram, Cut the Rope and Tiny Wings so incredibly popular. Oh, and there are now over 400 million store accounts, Apple said.
