Sony Mobile has confirmed that its Xperia mini pro will begin receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update today, settling worries that the 3-inch device — which packs only a 1GHz processor and 400MB of internal storage — would forever be stuck with Gingerbread.
There are minor differences in the release depending on which which country you’re in and which carrier you’re using, so the update will be rolled out “in batches,” according to the Japanese company. You may not receive it straight away, then, but you can be sure it is on its way to your handset.
To find out exactly when your handset will receive the update, you can check its Sales Item (SI) number against the list on Sony’s blog. Once yours is ready, you’ll need to connect your Xperia mini pro to the Companion (PC) or Bridge (Mac) software on your computer to install the update. After backing up your data, of course.
