Microsoft Confirms Windows 8 Upgrade Pricing for U.K.

Windows 8 notebook

Microsoft has this morning confirmed that Windows 7 users who purchase a new PC between June 2, 2012, and February 28, 2013, will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 for just £14.99 (approx. $23.35) when the new operating system is launched later this year.

Microsoft’s deal hopes to encourage customers to continue purchasing Windows PCs during the coming months rather than holding on to their cash for Windows 8 to launch — and then buying a PC with it pre-installed — later on. Those who take advantage of the offer will receive a promotional code for Windows 8 Pro along with purchase instructions on the day Windows 8 is makes its debut.

The upgrade offer also entitles you to 90 days of Microsoft technical support.

To be eligible for the Windows 8 upgrade, simply purchase a new PC running Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate between June 2, 2012, and February 28, 2013. Then register for your upgrade at www.windowsupgradeoffer.com.

Microsoft announced the same deal for U.S. customers earlier this month for $14.99.
