There have been so many iPhone 5 leaks and rumors that we were able to craft our own detailed mockup of the device with a 4-inch screen. However, a new report from a source “deep within Apple’s supply chain” says the phone will actually launch with a 4.08-inch display with a 1,136 x 640-pixel resolution. KGI analyst Mingchi Kuo provided the details to AppleInsider and said Apple will release the phone “later this year” but didn’t provide an exact time frame. “We expect iPhone 5 to feature a 4.08-inch in-cell IPS panel screen with a display resolution of 1,136 x 640 and 500-nit brightness,” Kuo said in his note. Apple will reportedly not consider a phone with a screen size above 4.3-inches because it believes that size screen would be hard for consumers to operate with a single hand and that such a screen size would require a “visibly larger” battery pack. The above image, from KBI, is in-line with the mockups we’ve also created.
