Wii U NFC TV universal remoteNintendo announced today that the Nintendo Wii U will support two GamePads. It was once thought that the system would only work with one pad only. Gamers, of course, didn’t like that news.

We’ll see more concerning gaming with multiple GamePads further down the line. For now, news that the support is there is exciting. As Reggie Fils-Aime suggested, the two GamePads at launch mirrors the initial setup of the Nintendo Entertainment System; that launched with two controllers as well.

They didn’t have screens in them.
