The long-awaited Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy Note has begun hitting handsets in the U.K. this morning, nearly three weeks after making its European debut in Germany.
The update is available both over the air, and through the Kies desktop application for Mac and PC. In addition to Android 4.0, it brings Samsung’s latest TouchWiz user interface, plus the Premium Suite of applications that are designed exclusively for the Galaxy Note. That includes the new S Note App, which is said to be an “advanced note-taking, productivity tool,” and a new S Memo widget for your home screen.
Your Galaxy Note should notify you when your update is available, but if it doesn’t (mine didn’t!) you can go into its Settings app and try to find the update manually. If it doesn’t appear there, plug your device into Kies on your computer and you should be able to download the software and install it over USB; this is the process I had to follow.
Has Ice Cream Sandwich arrived on your Galaxy Note yet?
