Microsoft Will Let Future Windows 7 Users Upgrade to Windows 8 for $14.99

Windows 8 - startIf you purchase a Windows 7 PC starting June 2, Microsoft will let you upgrade to Windows 8 for only $14.99. Awesome! What’s not awesome? There isn’t any news regarding pricing for existing Windows 7 owners, but additional offers will apparently be announced in the coming months. We expect Windows 8 to hit in October, but just in case your parents or grandparents decide that still buying a Windows 7 PC is a good idea after the new OS hits, Microsoft’s upgrade promotion ends January 31 of next year, meaning your window of opportunity is large. Also worth noting: On the heels of Thursday’s Windows 8 Release Preview, Microsoft hinted its next OS will reach the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) stage in the next two months, which sounds to us like everything is coming together quite nicely for the Redmond-based company.
