Vodafone U.K. Unveils Smart II, A Budget Android Handset That Costs Just £70

Vodafone U.K. has unveiled its new Smart II smartphone that promises to be “perfect if you’re looking for a great Android phone that won’t break the bank.”

The £70 (approx. $108) handset boasts a 3.2-inch HVGA display, a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera, and an 800MHz processor. It has 150MB of internal storage and comes bundled with a free 2GB microSD card. But if you’re hoping to get access to Ice Cream Sandwich for less than £100, you’re going to be disappointed, because the Smart II ships with Gingerbread instead.

It’s pre-loaded with the official Facebook and Twitter apps, in addition to the full Google suite of applications, such as Gmail, Gtalk, YouTube, and of course Google Play.

The Smart II isn’t the slimmest smartphone there is, measuring in at 12.35mm thick, but it is very compact. Vodafone’s video above demonstrates just how tiny it is.

The Smart II, which comes in dark grey or white, is available from Vodafone today.

Will you be picking up the Smart II?
