PS Vita JoystickA price cut for the PlayStation Vita is on its way to Europe. MCV UK learned that Sony’s newest handheld will go on sale by €50 starting this summer.

Here’s the official word from SCE Europe VP Philippe Cardon:

“The PS Vita is the latest generation of handheld console and more than 1.8m have been sold worldwide since its launch…[Its] innovations are numerous. With this offer we want to make it more accessible to the greatest number with the approach of summer vacation.”

As the headline suggests, the offer will only be good for a limited time. The PS Vita will see the €50 rebate starting June 1st. Anyone who buys a new Vita from then until July 15th will receive the rebate.

We’ve received no word of a temporary price cut in regions other than Europe. If one comes, we’ll be sure to let you know.

UPDATE: France only, folks. We’ll let you know if it spreads to other regions.
