Sleeping Dogs is a game that, quite honestly, flew below my personal radar for a long time. In fact, outside of the occasional blast of media when it was a True Crime game from Activision, I never paid it any mind.
Then Square Enix picked the project up. Then I found out that the title wasn’t originally intended to be a part of the so-so True Crime franchise. United Front Games wanted to make a brand new IP all along, Square Enix let them do that.
Now, having played the game for around an hour at PAX East a few months back, it’s a title that’s standing out within the crowded 2012 release calendar. Sleeping Dogs looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to get more time with it at E3 in a few weeks.
Until then, we have the trailer you see at the head of this post. It features more than four minutes of in-game footage, and it covers the basic gist of Sleeping Dogs, its plot and the world it occurs in.
Sleeping Dogs will launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on August 14th, 2012. Will you be picking it up?
