Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is the fourth game in the Sly series. It isn’t, however, being developed by the original creators of the brand. Sucker Punch isn’t handling this new game, that credit goes to Sanzaru Games. Sanzaru is the studio responsible for the recent Sly Cooper HD remake for the PlayStation 3.
Glen Egan, President of Sanzaru, took to the PlayStation Blog this morning in order to announce something exciting for the PS Vita owners out there. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will release for the PlayStation Vita on the same day it releases for the PlayStation 3, though that date hasn’t been announced yet.
As for PS Vita-specific features? Of course, this game will feature some touchscreen business on Sony’s new portable. But it will also rock some of that cross-platform goodness so many of us get excited for.
The portable version will contain all the same awesome Sly Cooper action you will find on the PS3 along with cool Vita-specific features that incorporate the front and rear touchscreens and motion controls. The game will also feature cross-save capability, so you’ll be able to save the game from either machine and then pick up right where you left off — whether you’re at home or on the go.
I personally expect cross-platform play between the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita to be the highlight of Sony’s press conference at this year’s E3. I bet just about everything they bring out will feature some cross-plat features that encourage users to snag and enjoy both systems.
That also meets up with their “Never Stop Playing” ad campaign.
