Amazon Will Suspend 8.9-inch Kindle, 10.1-inch Kindle Fire Due in Q3, Report Suggests

Kindle Fire

Amazon’s Kindle Fire has been an incredibly successful product, at least from a consumer standpoint, and Amazon is largely expected to launch a larger version in the future to keep the coals burning.  A new report from DigiTimes on Friday suggests the online retailer has ditched plans for a larger 8.9-inch model and is on its way to getting a 10.1-inch version of its Kindle Fire on the market by the third quarter of this year to compete directly with Apple’s iPad. The report suggests Amazon will sell 30-40 million tablets during the year, including sales of its 7-inch Kindle Fire. Earlier reports have suggested Amazon’s next tablet will offer a quad-core processor, too.
