Several team members from Junction Point, including Chase Jones and Warren Spector, talk about what’s coming to the sequel for Disney Epic Mickey, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. This multiplatform adventure will feature drop-in/drop-out co-op, updated graphics, new storylines and brand new mechanics. Based on the preview footage and discussion, it’s looking solid so far.
The one thing that makes me salty throughout the course of this behind the scenes clip, and I’d venture to say that a lot of gamers will agree, is the insistence upon calling the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next generation consoles. They are not next gen hardware, they are current gen hardware. While they offer a different host of features when compared to the Wii, they do not offer up a new generation of tech. The Xbox 360 is approaching seven years on the market.
A minor gripe, to be sure, but I hope the marketing team puts the kibosh on all of this next gen business ASAP.
I will, however, give credit to the folks at Junction Point. Warren Spector and his team are exceptionally passionate people, and they love the Disney brand a whole heck of a lot. Let’s hope that translates to an awesome sequel.
