New 2012 MacBook Pro and iMac Pop Up in Benchmarks

Apple’s refreshed (and unannounced) MacBook Pro and iMac have started to pop-up in Geekbench benchmarks over the past several days. MacRumors noticed the new benchmarks in its forums, where a “MacBookPro9,1” entry surfaced, which suggests it will land as the 2012 replacement for the current MacBookPro8,x versions of the popular notebook. The new MacBook will reportedly sport Intel’s new Ivy Bridge Core i7-3820QM quad-core processor with a clockspeed of 2.7GHz. MacRumors says it’s unlikely this chip will land in a 13-inch MacBook Pro, however, and will probably remain in the 15-inch model.

The benchmarks also revealed a new iMac13,2 device, which is allegedly Apple’s latest 27-inch desktop computer. It is equipped with Intel’s quad-core Ivy Bridge Core i7-3770 clocked at 3.4GHz. It scored 12,183 in Geekbench, up just a hair from the 11,500 score that current models typically pull in. Hopefully we’ll hear more on both computers in the coming weeks and months.
