The trailer above gets violent. As per usual, when it comes to video clips packed with murder and blood, consider this a warning message. Watch it in a proper place.
Having played the game for what approached 45 minutes at PAX East with Square Enix, I can safely say that I like what I’ve witnessed in regards to the hand-to-hand combat this title offers up. It’s similar to what we’ve experience in Batman: Arkham Asylum and City. You’ll fight groups of enemies and participate in an almost rhythmic exchange based on landing combos, activating counters and properly dancing around opponents.
The final bits of the trailer show our hero slamming enemies into the environment around him. That contextual violence happens whenever you grab an opponent. Anything in the game world that can be considered deadly (stove top, pole, electric box, etc.) will light up when you’re holding an opponent. Bring the poor jerk over to said object, let go and enjoy the brutality.
Sleeping Dogs is currently set to launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on August 14th of this year. As more comes for the game, we’ll have it.
