Samsung Galaxy Note users are reporting this morning that their devices have begun receiving a tasty slab of Ice Cream Sandwich. It appears the Korean electronics giant is now pushing out the Android 4.0 update to its super-sized smartphone for those located in Europe.
According to The Verge, the news was broken by Devin Balentina on Twitter, who posted a screenshot of the notification he received to inform him the 318MB update was waiting. Balentina is located in the Netherlands, which suggests the release is hitting European handsets — with version number GT-N7000 — first.
Those in the United States will likely be made to wait for the update while it goes through carrier testing with AT&T.
According to its release notes, this update delivers the latest version of TouchWiz; a new S Note App, which is said to be an “advanced note-taking, productivity tool;” and a new S Memo widget — in addition to the ICS operating system itself.
Unlike Samsung’s other software updates, which must be downloaded using its Kies Air application, this one is reportedly coming over-the-air, so you can update your handset without having to sit in front of your desktop.
