Facetagram or Instabook or the worst acquisition ever is reportedly being investigated by the Federal Trade Commission. According to the Financial Times, “people familiar with the matter” say the FTC is currently collecting a treasure trove of info from Facebook’s competitors, which could potentially stall the merger for up to a year.
Just because the FTC is putting the acquisition under its microscope doesn’t mean it’ll uncover any dirt; the deal is expected to go through. Investigations are standard protocol for deals worth over $66 million, so the $1 billion Facebook shelled out certainly qualifies.
What this really means is that Facebook won’t be able to integrate Instagram into its big blue empire as early as it’d like. For Facetabookgram users, your Sierra-filtered photos will just have to wait a little longer before they’re more easily plastered in your friend’s News Feed.
