BioShock Infinite, the third game in the franchise and the second from Irrational Games, will no longer enjoy time on the marketplace during the fall of this year. Take-Two announced by way of press release this morning that Infinite will launch on February 26th, 2013.
The good news here (because, hey, we’re the “always look on the bright side” kind of people) is that BioShock Infinite will launch during a relatively light time of year. February is a few months away from the storm of releases that always comes in the fall. That gives gamers more time to raise the scratch for their purchase, and it gives Take-Two a nice, empty calendar to launch their game into.
Here’s Ken Levine, Creative Director at Irrational Games, from the presser announcing the delay:
“When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February.”
If it means the creation of an even better game, I welcome this delay with open arms…and tears in my eyes.
Remember, BioShock Infinite is now set to release on February 26th in 2013. As more comes for the title, we’ll have it.
