Mysterious Windows Phone-Equipped Samsung “Mandel” Surfaces

by Brandon Russell | May 5, 2012May 5, 2012 12:00 pm PDT

Samsung MandelWhile much of our attention is still laser-focused on Samsung’s new Galaxy S III, a lower key Windows Phone offering from the Korean company has been spotted online. It’s been a long while since we’ve seen a Windows Phone device from Samsung — not since the Focus S and Flash late last year — so we’re genuinely intrigued by what the company has cooking up. Reportedly codenamed “Mandel,” the handset you see pictured is supposedly an LTE-enabled device that was at one point headed for AT&T; the Mandel was apparently canceled before it could make its March debut, but now that it’s popping up again, one has to wonder if we’ll see it land in stores after all. Windows Phone hasn’t exactly flown off store shelves as of late, so the OS could certainly use any reinforcements it could get.
