A recent tweet from ASUS Indonesia said a shortage of Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chips will delay the launch of its Padfone, a tablet/phone hybrid device. “Guys, the availability of the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 is still subject to shortcomings,” the translated Tweet said. “Unfortunately it’s the CPU that we use in PadFone.” The crossover device was original scheduled to hit Taiwan at the end of April, with an Italian launch set follow around late May.
Qualcomm has already said it’s having issues meeting demand for its Snapdragon S4 processors. Several companies have opted to use Qualcomm’s popular dual-core processor, including HTC, and it’s even rumored the Samsung’s Galaxy S III may use the S4 in the U.S.
