Motorola Mobility Shipped 8.9 Million Mobile Devices in Q1, Lost $86M

Motorola Mobility announced its first quarter 2012 earnings on Tuesday. The company noted that it shipped 8.9 million mobile devices during the quarter, including 5.1 million smartphones. Motorola Mobility reported a quarterly loss of $86 million despite taking home $3.1 billion in net revenues for the quarter, up 2% from the same quarter last year. “The introduction of RAZR MAXX marked another successful addition to the Motorola product family and contributed to our growth in smartphones,” Sanjay Jha, chairman and CEO of Motorola Mobility said. “Our Home business delivered another solid quarter highlighted by improvement in year-over-year profitability. We continue to work closely with Google to complete the proposed merger during the first half of the year.”
