Microsoft is set to bring Master Chief to your screen in Halo: Forward Unto Dawn, a live-action web series this fall.
The series will consist of five 15-minute episodes that you can catch on Machinima and Halo Waypoint. It will tell the story of a young Master Chief and his rise from a UNSC Cadet to the Spartan hero we know and love today. The story told in the web series will apparently tie in with that of Halo 4‘s.
343 Industries wants to take a new approach to the Halo franchise and answer the request of a large majority of their fan-base: people who read the Halo books want a back story. Many people feel like the Halo games don’t offer enough insight on the history of Master Chief. Of course, there are others who think that former developer and creator of the series, Bungie, did things right by leaving some questions unanswered.
Matt McCloskey, director of franchise business management for 343 had this to say about the upcoming web series:
“Web series as a way to make ‘Halo’ accessible for people who haven’t played the games.”
343 Industries seemingly wants to open up the Halo community to players who have yet to play the game.
With the November 6th release of Halo 4 approaching, we’re excited to hear the news on this new initiative to show content by 343. More information on the Halo 4: Forward Unto Down web series will be unveiled at ComicCon this year.
