Old school button mashing is meeting new school touchscreen technology. To coincide with the theatrical release of The Avengers (internationally; it’s still slated for a May 4 release here in the U.S.), Capcom has released its most beloved entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom series to iOS users: Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It’s just $2.99 for a limited time.
The good news is that the now 12-year-old game is keeping everything fans loved about the original in tact: All 56 characters, stages and dreadfully cheesy sounds are ported over to the iOS title. 24 characters are playable from the start — mostly Street Fighter and X-Men at first; the other 32 can be unlocked, like Resident Evil’s Jill Valentine, by playing Arcade Mode.
Capcom is handling the transition to touchscreen by introducing a new “Flick Button” system, which is basically the company’s answer to streamlining complex inputs. Flicking up, left, right or down on any of the attack buttons allows players to quickly launch individual and character-assisted special attacks.
The game will retail for $4.99 once The Avengers celebration sale ends, so hop on this early if you’re a fan of fighting games, Marvel, Capcom or just looking for good entertainment.
Now can we get a mobile port of Resident Evil, Capcom?
