Microsoft’s Windows Phone GM Gavin Kim Joins NQ Mobile

Last week news broke that Microsoft’s Windows Phone general manager Gavin Kim had left the firm. NQ Mobile, the security firm headed up by former Samsung exec Omar Khan, announced Monday that Gavin Kim has joined the company as its chief product officer. Kim and Khan worked together at Samsung on the launches of the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Tab 10.1 and more. “I am delighted to join the team as Chief Product Officer,” said Gavin Kim. “User privacy and mobile security are significant concerns for both businesses and consumers alike. NQ Mobile has the leadership and global distribution to be able to address these issues head on – protecting us and our loved ones by developing solutions that keep our smart device data and content secure.” NQ Mobile has more than 147 million users in 100 countries.

DALLAS, April 23, 2012–NQ Mobile Inc. Gavin joins NQ Mobile from Microsoft, where he served as the General Manager for Windows Phone Product Marketing. As General Manager, Gavin led Microsoft’s product marketing and platform planning teams as well as Windows Phone application and developer ecosystem efforts.

Gavin has also held senior leadership positions with Samsung Mobile as Vice President of Content, Services and Enterprise Business, as well as with Motorola and Advanced Technology Ventures.
