Huawei announced in an annual report Monday that it shipped 55 million phones last year, including 20 million smartphones. “We have made strategic investments, augmented our R&D capabilities and deployed resources globally, and implemented a future-oriented business architecture that puts Huawei in a confident position for sustained growth,” Mr. Ken Hu, Rotating and Acting CEO, Huawei, said.

Huawei also announced that it had sales revenues of CNR 44.6 billion during the year, up 44.3% from 2010.

Last month, Huawei said that it hopes to sell 60 million smartphones this year, so it’s going to need to really push its brand name globally in order to sell 40 million more smartphones than it did in 2011.
